Who’s Behind Spark?

We're a group of thinkers, designers and coders who have a passion for bringing innovation to churches. We also believe that innovation shouldn't cost an arm and a leg, or anything at all, for that matter.

Spark Development Network

The Spark Development Network (Spark) is an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes collaboration, innovation and openness for church technology. We're tired of watching churches struggle to afford the quality software they need to fulfill their vision. We're passionate about bringing the latest technology, matched with great design, to free open-source solutions for churches. While initially sponsoring a single project, Rock, we at Spark hope to launch and support other projects in the future. If you have a project you would like to work on in the Spark community drop us a line.

Meet the Board Members

The Spark Development Network non-profit was started by individuals with years of experience in implementing leading-edge technology in churches across America. It was initially founded by Jon, David, Nick and Jeremy but is currently made up of these volunteer or part-time members:

Nick Airdo
Nick Airdo is a developer and co-creator of RefreshCache, an annual conference dedicated to developers of Church Management Systems (ChMS). He has been writing custom ministry software for Central Christian Church of Arizona since 2004. For the twelve years prior, Nick's career began at Motorola where he worked on email systems infrastructure, monitoring systems software and the IT data warehouse. In 2004, Nick gave up his career at Motorola to dedicate his programming skills to the Church and to pursue his dream to collaborate and share software with other Christian software developers.
Tony Burgarello
Tony works on staff at Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV) in Peoria, Arizona and has been a great source of guidance for the Spark Development Network.
Jon Edmiston
Jon Edmiston was on staff at Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV) in Peoria, Arizona for 13 years, where he lead the Creative Technologies team. After joining the CCV staff in 2002 he led the development of a custom church management system that has since been released to a third-party software company and installed at over 100 of the largest churches in the US. Before his tenure at CCV, Jon was a E-commerce Program Manager at Honeywell International where he oversaw corporate e-commerce programs and developed enterprise standards for Internet technologies.

Not only is Emily the Spark Treasurer, she also brings a wealth of experience in the communications, public relations and marketing domains. You can hear Emily as our faithful moderator in the ROCKCast podcasts where she talks the team through upcoming happenings at Spark.
